In case you need to change out the battery for your wizard here is a little help.

Silver Beauty Dish lighting test

The new Hensel Silver Beauty Dish product code 8608 is now shipping! Here is a little quick lighting test using my 3 year old since he was available and just wanted to help so badly!!! He loves to push all the buttons on the packs. I used an Integra Pro 500 Plus on the Beauty Dish. I wanted to test the silver vs. the white so first the white!


Here is the White Beauty Dish. Shot at F8 Nice direct soft light with soft shadow falloff.


Here is the silver at f8 obviously too hot.


Here is the silver at the right exposure f14. 1 2/3 stop more power than the silver. I like the more dramatic falloff to black it gives the beauty dish an edgier look.

Blog Neglect

I've been neglecting the blog, I know. Time has been eaten up with travel, emails and lets face it Facebook. I love the interaction on Facebook where members can just comment right there and discussions happen. This might just be the death of the blog however I imagine once PPE happens I will have photo and news to spread. PHOTOSHOP WORLD

It's our first time at Photoshop World for Hensel and the crowd is great. A lot of interest in the Porty 12 Lithium even from those who can fix the lighting in post. Everyone loves the fact that the batteries are so small. Cute sells! We've met some great people here and I am really interested in the company next door's software from Gridiron. Tracking for projects so you can tell what to charge or at least find out what you are making. Dawn gave them the idea of having the tracking be backwards counting so you can have the "Dawn's they need it 8pm timer"

Beauty Dish for the Ringflash

Here is the new Ringflash adapter.  It works and look a lot like our Beauty Dish but now adapted to fit on the ringflash.  Use on camera or off and get a dramatic but softer look.  This should keep your ringflash from collecting any dust with even more versatility.

Honeycomb grids are available as well, giving an even more narrow beam of light.  After the Photo Plus show we will have some test shots available so you can see what the light will do. This item will be available in the first part of 2009

Photokina Day 1 PORTY LITHIUM

Here are the new PORTY Lithium 6 and 12's at PHOTOKINA. As you can see very small and compact.  Weighing in at 12 and 13 pounds and the batteries can be charged in or out of the pack and you can see if the battery is good without putting it in the pack.  It has a measuring device not unlike the Duracel battery tester that was popular a few years ago that will tell you if what charge the battey has left.

Here is the top panel.  Really the only major change is the double arrows give you 1 stop jumps in power for quick changes.

The new charger for the Lithium batteries.  Full charge in 1.5 hours.  80% charge in less than 1 hour.  Don't know yet if you can use it to prolong the life of the batteries in the studio yet.

Hensel has changed the way the EH Pro MINI's cables attach.  I can see how this would be beneficial especially for tight spaces or overhead softboxes.  Less strain on the connectors.
